Most guides tell you what to buy, but few say what happens once it arrives. Here's the first week, based on what buyers keep reporting.
Before first use: charge fully and set up the app
Lovense toys arrive partly charged, so charge to 100% first; it takes 40 to 150 minutes depending on the toy. Meanwhile, download Lovense Remote and create an account if you'll want long distance. Pair the toy before your session so you're not fixing the connection when you want to use it. Pairing takes under two minutes over Bluetooth, and the toy reconnects on its own afterwards.
Session one: explore manually first
With insertable toys (Lush 4, Edge 2, Hush 2), use plenty of water-based lube, more than you think: silicone has some drag, and enough lube is what makes the first time comfortable. Start at the lowest setting. On most Lovense toys the lowest level is already noticeable, and the maximum is very strong, so don't start there.
Session two: explore the app

Lovense lists body-safe silicone for its toys: non-porous and easy to clean. Wash with mild soap and warm water after every use, and rinse insertable toys well so no soap is left. Never use silicone lube with silicone toys, because it damages the surface over time; use water-based lube only. Store toys apart so silicone doesn't touch silicone, which can also damage it.
Setting up for long-distance use
For long distance, you both need Lovense Remote and an account. You add each other in the app with your Lovense usernames, or send a control link. Once connected, your partner gets the toy's full controls from anywhere: only the phone next to the toy uses Bluetooth, and your partner's goes through the internet. It takes about five minutes the first time and is instant after that.
Common first-time questions
Is it waterproof? Most Lovense toys are IPX7 (submersible to 1 m for 30 minutes), so the bath or shower is fine. The Nora, Max 2, Domi 2, Gemini, Gravity and Spinel are IPX6 (splash-proof, don't submerge) and the Solace models IPX4. Never charge a wet toy.
How loud is it? Lovense lists 36 dB for the Lush 4 and Lush Mini and 33 dB for the Lush Anal, which is quiet at low settings; at maximum, any toy can be heard in a quiet room. Out in public, stay at low to medium; keep the maximum for home.
What if the app disconnects? You can always stop the toy with its button, and the app reconnects on its own when your phone is back in range.
