The Max 2 has two features that separate it from basic app-controlled masturbators: an air pump contraction system, and the ability to sync with a partner's Nora so each toy responds to the other's movement in real time.

This is what sets the Max 2 apart from basic strokers:

Care and maintenance

The Max 2 requires more care than simple vibrators due to the TPE sleeve and air pump mechanism:

1. Remove the sleeve: it comes out of the case for cleaning
2. Rinse well: run warm water through the sleeve to clear lube and fluids
3. Toy cleaner: apply it, leave it a moment, rinse again
4. Dry it: let the sleeve air-dry before putting it back, to prevent mould and bacteria
5. Water-based lube only: oil or silicone lube damages TPE

Who should skip the Max 2

The Max 2 is Lovense's best male toy for long distance, but it's the wrong buy for some people. Skip it if:

• You want hands-free automatic stroking. You hold the Max 2 yourself: it contracts and vibrates but doesn't stroke on its own. For that, the Solace or Solace Pro is the right tool.
• You won't use the Nora sync. A big part of the Max 2's value is the two-way couples sync. If you're buying purely for solo use, a simpler or cheaper stroker may serve you just as well.
• You want a submersible toy. The Max 2 is IPX6, splash-resistant, so cleaning takes more care than with the Lush or Hush, which you can rinse freely.
• You need a long battery. At 95 to 215 minutes, long sessions need planning around charging.
• You want the simplest possible manual stroker. If you don't care about app features or contraction tech, a basic non-connected sleeve costs far less.

In short: buy the Max 2 for long-distance play with a Nora, or as an affordable interactive stroker for yourself. For hands-free automatic stroking, step up to the Solace range.

Cleaning and sleeve care

A stroker's sleeve needs more care than a solid silicone toy, and with IPX6 you have to watch where the water goes. Done right, the sleeve lasts; done wrong, it wears out fast. The routine:

1. Remove the sleeve before cleaning. The Max 2 is splash-resistant, not submersible, so never dunk the motor case; the sleeve comes out to be washed separately.
2. Rinse the sleeve thoroughly with warm water. Use mild, fragrance-free soap or a dedicated toy cleaner. Work it through the textured interior to clear all lube and residue.
3. Dry completely before reassembly. Moisture trapped inside the sleeve breeds bacteria and degrades the material. Air-dry fully; pat the interior if needed.
4. Use renewal powder (cornstarch) to keep the sleeve supple. A light dusting after drying stops it getting tacky and helps it last, as with any TPE sleeve.
5. Water-based lube only. Silicone lube degrades the sleeve material. Stick to water-based, and reapply rather than over-applying at the start.

Max 2 vs. strokers from other brands

If you're comparing brands, the Max 2's main rivals are the Kiiroo Keon and the classic Fleshlight range. Here's where it wins and loses.

vs. Kiiroo Keon

The Kiiroo Keon is an automatic stroker: it strokes hands-free, which the Max 2 doesn't. If hands-free automation is your priority, the Keon (or Lovense's own Solace) is the category you want. Where the Max 2 wins is the Nora two-way sync for couples and the broader Lovense app ecosystem.
