Picking the right Lovense toy comes down to being honest about how you'll use it: solo, with a partner, long distance or worn out of the house. Each leads to a different product, so I've sorted my picks by use rather than by spec sheet, because that's how most people decide.

The short answer, if you don't want to read the whole guide:
What to think about before buying
🎯 Your experience
If you're new to toys, start with something simple. If you've used a few, the more specialised designs open up.
👤 Your body and preferences
Body size, sensitivity and taste matter a lot, and what works for someone else may not work for you.
💰 Your budget
Most Lovense toys cost between $59 and $199, and a higher price doesn't mean a better fit for you.
🌟 How you'll use it
Solo play, a couple in the same room, a long-distance relationship and wearing a toy out each need different features.

Special cases
Long-distance couples
In a long-distance relationship, the connection and the battery matter most. Look for:
- A strong connection: Lovense lists up to 105 m of Bluetooth range for the Lush 4
- A long battery: a few hours for long sessions
- Control over the internet, from anywhere in the world
- Video chat in the app, so the call and the controls are in one place
💡 A tip for long-distance couples
Consider a matching pair: the Nora + Max 2 are made to sync, so each toy responds to the other's movement in real time.
Size and anatomy
Bodies differ, and Lovense makes toys in several sizes:
🌱 Petite Anatomy
My picks: Lush Mini (31 mm), Hush 2 in its 1-inch size, Ambi
Smaller options that are comfortable to start with.
⚠️ A note on fit
The Lush has a fixed tail that suits most bodies but not all. If the tail of a Lush 2 or 3 felt uncomfortable or sat wrong, the Lush 4 won't fix that; try the Lush Mini or another type of toy.
Sensitivity
Five common buying mistakes
❌ Choosing on price alone
Many Lovense toys cost the same $99, like the Hush 2 and the Edge 2, so the price won't decide for you. Choose by fit and use.
❌ Ignoring the sizes
Check the width: the 6 mm between the Lush 4 (37 mm) and the Lush Mini (31 mm) makes a real difference to comfort. When in doubt, start smaller.
❌ Forgetting battery life
If you cam or like long sessions, battery life matters. The Lush 4 lasts up to about 5.8 hours and the Lush 3 up to about 3.7, a real difference over a long session.
❌ Buying without reading reviews
Marketing leaves things out. Owner reviews tell you about fit, noise and how reliable the app is.
How to decide, in three steps
The category grid and the quiz are a start, but the decision usually comes down to three things. Go through them in order.
Step 1: Identify your primary use context
This filter matters most, and it rules out half the range straight away. Will you mostly use the toy alone, with a partner in the room, or in a long-distance relationship? Each needs different toys. Long-distance control works the same on every Lovense toy, so for long distance pick for comfort and battery over long sessions (the Lush 4 is the usual choice). Discreet play away from home puts discretion first (Ferri, Exomoon, Lush Mini). Solo use at home leaves you the most freedom, so power and the type of sensation decide.
Step 2: Identify your stimulation type preference
Vibration, suction, thrusting, oscillation and rotation each feel different, beyond how strong they are. If vibrators have always left you underwhelmed inside, a stronger vibrator probably won't help; the Osci 3, Flexer or Vulse, which move instead of only vibrating, are more likely to. If direct vibration works for you, look at how deep the motor feels and the range of patterns. Getting this wrong is the most common expensive disappointment.
Step 3: Be honest about anatomy
Lovense publishes dimensions, but product pages don't explain what they mean in practice. The Lush 4, with about 76 mm (3 in) inside, suits most people but not all; if you're petite or have a tight pelvic floor, the Lush Mini is a much better place to start. The Edge 2's adjustable arm is the one to pick if fixed-angle prostate toys have never quite reached the spot. Matching size and mechanism to your body is how you avoid buying the wrong toy twice.
Five more mistakes
1. Buying on the score alone. A high score only holds for the right person. The Domi 2 is excellent if you need a lot of power and too much if you're very sensitive. Read who a review says the toy is for, not just the score.
2. Assuming more expensive means better for you. The $59 Ambi does everything a beginner needs for external play. The Solace costs less than the Solace Pro and is a sensible first auto-stroker. Price reflects features and materials, not how well a toy fits you.
3. Buying a couples' toy without confirming both people are interested. The Max 2, Diamo and Dolce are much better with a partner who's keen. Buying one in the hope of winning a partner over often ends with an expensive toy on a shelf.
4. Skipping lube. Water-based lube makes silicone toys comfortable, especially for insertion, so budget for it with the toy and use plenty for the first few sessions.
5. Expecting the app to feel like magic the first time. The Lovense app takes some learning. Spend a quarter of an hour on the patterns, custom sequences and Music Sync before your first session, so you aren't learning the app in the middle of it.
